NEMA 23, 2-phase motors power the X, XX, Y, and Z axis.   It’s essential to have the gantry square on the side rails for accurate cutting. Electronic proximity optical sensors ensure that the table boundaries are set and the table is square. A machined billet aluminum gear with a high quality urethane belt, reinforced by a steel cable, is located on the inside of the gearbox. These gearboxes are located on the X and XX axis and are protected by the end trucks.

When looking at the end trucks it’s clear to see the high quality design. The end truck body is made of custom cast aluminum in a machine shop.  This construction allows for minimal vibration and improved results when cutting. Extruded aluminum is used for the gantry and side rails. The extrusion process, which uses a custom dye for precise replication, results in a perfect alignment.

The pinions and gear rack are also critical to a smooth running drive system. These parts drive the end trucks along the side rails (X and XX axis), the carriage along the gantry (Y axis), and the torch lifter up and down on the Z-axis. On each axis, quad V-groove bearings move along an inverted V-guide. This set-up features an intelligent design for extremely smooth motion by sweeping debris aside during operation.
