Using A Plasma Water Table To Control Debris

CNC Plasma CutterPlasma cutters are a brilliant new technology in any field that deals with cutting metal surfaces.  From large areas of construction to even the simplest of artwork and home projects, many people are realizing the benefit of using plasma cutting to get clean and straight cuts on metals that were previously difficult to control.  But during this process, much debris and waste can be collected in the air.  One way to control the fumes, smoke, noise and glare is to use a plasma water table when you are cutting metals with this technique.

The plasma water table works when the metal plate being cut is placed over a concealed air chamber.  Air is either put into the chamber or moved out of the chamber, and the air causes the water in the chamber to be displaced. After this, the water level in the table will either rise or fall.  Most shops will put the plate being cut a few inches below the water to control noise and glare.  To get the most effective noise control, the plate should be at least three inches beneath the water.  By dropping the plate either one or two inches underwater, the smoke and fumes can be easily controlled by the water.  In low power plasma systems it is recommended that the plate be dropped just below the level of the water.

While using a plasma water table is not recommended for precision cut processes, many people prefer it because it does not pull in heated air from the inside or exhaust the air to the outside.

By harnessing a simple process of physics, all different industries can benefit.  The plasma cutting process serves to simplify and clean up any type of business or project that needs metal to be cut. This will in turn help to create a finished product that is better.  Whether it is steel beams for a large warehouse, or the metal used in building a patio table for your deck, plasma cutting is a great way to cut that metal.  And in the last few years, the process has become much more affordable.  Originally plasma cutting was incredibly expensive, but as engineers learned the value of this technique, they found ways to make it more affordable for anyone who wants to use this process.  But while using this cutting system, it is also important to account for the debris that comes with it.  And these systems can set off a glare when cutting that can burn the eyes.  They can also be loud and disruptive to co-workers.  A great way to account for all these issues is to use a plasma water table when cutting.  Using these will help to deal with each of these problems.  While they may not be great for every type of cut, when dealing with large cuts that require lots of movement and noise, this is a perfect way to control the elements that could be bothersome.  These water tables have also been proven to take care of 98% to 100% of the dust created in the plasma cutting process, depending on the amount of water that is used.  A plasma water table is a great way to get a clean cut while also keeping your shop clean and noise free.
