5 Industries in Which a CNC Plasma Cutter is Useful

A CNC plasma cutter is an extremely handy tool that can be used for lots of different purposes and with improvements in the technology it has become much more affordable for smaller businesses and even home crafters. Basically, what it does is cut metal, and sometimes other materials, but it cuts it so cleanly and so nicely that there are almost no limits to its applications. Because of this flexibility, there are many industries that can benefit from using it.

One industry that can definitely benefit from using a CNC plasma cutter and certainly does right now is the automotive industry and all of its facets. The big automobile companies likely do not use these types of cutters to make standard parts for their off-the-line vehicles but there are a lot of automotive companies that do not do standard work. First of all, there are customization shops, especially for really fancy trucks or automobiles. Customers in these types of shops tend to like specialized parts. Cutting these sorts of custom pieces out is now extremely easy and the edges are so smooth with one of these cutters that they almost do not need to be sanded before they can be used.

Another industry that can certainly get a lot of benefit out of the use of a CNC plasma cutter is the arts and crafts industry. The uses in this field are essentially endless. Because of the extreme precision these machines have when cutting, they can make extremely detailed art pieces including metal work to use for fencing, tables, delicate scrollwork over a doorway, or big chunky pieces such as chandeliers or stair rails. One of the nice things about the plasma cutter is that it works guided by a computer, so once a design is set up and programmed into the computer, it allows that same design to be made exactly the same over and over again.

Another industry that is currently using this type of CNC plasma cutter is the HVAC industry. This allows pieces of ductwork to be cut right on site to the exact specifications. This makes a lot less work to create ductwork and that makes it much cheaper and easier to install new systems. And, should the need arise to cut multiple pieces that are the same shape, the cutter makes it very easy to replicate that shape over and over again.

Construction is another industry where a CNC plasma cutter can be very helpful. It is easy to cut parts, even out of very thick metal, for a particular task or if a tool is needed customized to a particular need or part. No, this would not be something a construction worker would likely have on site, but if a need developed, the tool or part could be crafted at the home office to fit. And of course, customizing a home’s décor or making things like rain spouts or fencing is done beautifully by this machine.

If an industry like forestry or animal care should happen to need customized metal fixtures, then turning to this particular cutter would also be advantageous. They could make the part they need immediately on site and there would be no question of safety issues. Of course, it could also be used to make decorative fixtures that will hold up well outside in all weather.
